Causes of Sciatica
Sciatica is caused by the compression of the sciatic nerve which is the nerve that starts in your back and continues down each of your legs. When the sciatic nerve is injured it can cause pain in your lower back that radiates down your leg(s). The compression of the sciatic nerve can be caused by numerous disorders including:
- Herniated/Bulging discs
- Spinal subluxations
..to name a few.
This pain can range from dull to extreme and can be a constant pain or can even be a pain that you feel occasionally. On the other hand, in many cases Sciatica can also cause a loss of feeling or numbness.
How can a Chiropractor help sciatica?
The first thing the Chiropractor will do is evaluate what is causing the sciatica. Once a cause is found, the Chiropractor will design a personalized treatment plan for you. Some of the provided treatments include but are not limited to:
