Headache Treatment

How Chiropractic works for headaches

Headache chiropractor Norwood Framingham

There are many causes for headaches. One type of headache is referred to as a “tension” headache. These types of headaches are usually a result of tightness in your neck and back and are usually caused by trauma, work, stress, or even from not getting enough sleep. This can cause pain throughout your head from your neck to the sides and top of your head or to the frontal region of your head. You may even feel pain in your sinus areas. The question is, will chiropractic care help your headache or migraine?

Initial Evaluation

First, the chiropractor will provide an initial evaluation. This will start by going over your medical history along with a history of your headaches. Knowing if it started after an injury such as an auto accident or a fall will help the chiropractor determine what may be causing the headaches.

Second, the chiropractor will ask you if there are any activities that tend to bring on the headaches. Also, are the headaches more common at any particular time? This will help determine how to manage the problems that are causing the pain. Providing good information will certainly help in the Chiropractors evaluation and will allow them to create a personalized treatment plan for you.

Potential Causes

The dysfunction of the vertebrae in the neck can cause muscle tension that can disrupt the nerves that control blood flow to the head. This dysfunction may have been caused by an injury sustained in an accident or fall, or it may due to stress at work or from poor posture while working on a computer.

This initial evaluation works to pinpoint the cause of your pain while ruling out more severe issues. After your evaluation the Chiropractor will start you on your personalized treatment which may include a few different treatment approaches such as:

  • Adjustment
  • Trigger point stimulation
  • Myofascial release
  • Posture correction
  • Exercises
  • Work place work station education

As you can see, chiropractic care can be very beneficial as a treatment for headaches and migraines. Feel free to call us to schedule your evaluation in Norwood, MA at (781) 551-8283 or in Framingham, MA at (508) 875-9693 or Request an appointment online.
